Module 9 of 12 in Emergency Essentials. Four live sessions on Thursdays at 9 pm IST, 1½ hours each, recorded. Session 4 is rounds with the faculty panel.

Skills: PCV/TS, blood smear, saline agglutination, blood typing

What Will You Learn?

  • Classify anaemia from PCV/TS and a blood smear
  • Decide when to transfuse and give a transfusion safely
  • Decide when to transfuse and what to treat next
  • Present an anaemia case and explain the transfusion decision

Course Content

Sessions 1–3
Approach, stabilise and treat, and a virtual case.

  • Session 1: Blood loss, destruction or not being made
  • Session 2: Transfusion: typing, cross-matching and giving blood safely
  • Session 3: Virtual case: IMHA or tick fever?

Quiz and assignment
Complete both before session 4 on Thursday 29 July 2027.

Session 4: Rounds
Rounds with the faculty panel: your cases and questions.
