About Course

Why patients stop eating, how much they need, and how to get food in safely.

Module 2 of 12 in Emergency Essentials. Four live sessions on Thursdays at 9 pm IST, 1½ hours each, recorded. Session 4 is rounds with the faculty panel.

What Will You Learn?

  • Assess nutritional status and work out how much a patient needs to eat
  • Place a nasogastric tube and start a safe feeding plan
  • Write a 3-day feeding plan for an anorexic cat
  • Write a feeding plan the whole team can follow

Course Content

Sessions 1–3
Approach, stabilise and treat, and a virtual case.

  • Session 1: Why they won’t eat, and how much they need
  • Session 2: Antiemetics, appetite stimulants and feeding tubes
  • Session 3: Virtual case: the cat that stopped eating

Quiz and assignment
Complete both before session 4 on Thursday 14 January 2027.

Session 4: Rounds
Rounds with the faculty panel: your cases and questions.
